OUR MissionOur mission is to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment where children develop a love for learning and grow into confident, caring, and responsible individuals. We are dedicated to fostering holistic growth—cognitive, social, emotional, and physical—through child-centered, inquiry-based education rooted in Montessori principles. Committed to creating an inclusive community, we aim to support every child's unique potential and prepare them to become thoughtful, respectful citizens of the local and global community.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Kamloops Montessori Academy was the first Montessori program established in Kamloops, beginning operations in 1998. Founded by Holly Schafer, who is also the current owner of Juniper Early Learning Center at Juniper Hills, we take great pride in continuing her legacy of Montessori teaching and learning. Our philosophy nurtures a lifelong love of learning and aims to educate children to become caring, socially responsible citizens of their community and the wider world.
Our educational and care programs serve children from 30 months through to school age, including Pre-Kindergarten, Full-Day Care, and Before and After School programs. We are committed to educating the whole child within a warm, family-oriented environment, applying the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952). Her holistic approach emphasizes the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each child. At Kamloops Montessori Academy, we believe that education is not just preparation for school but preparation for life, fostering confident, compassionate, and lifelong learners.

OUR commitiment to SUSTAINABILITY
Our programs are dedicated to cultivating a meaningful and sustainable relationship with the global environment through the thoughtful integration of knowledge, inquiry, and action. We believe in empowering current generations to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same, thereby building a future that sustains all forms of life on our planet.
At the preschool level, we incorporate education that promotes:
Environmental Stewardship:
We encourage lifestyles that prioritize regeneration over depletion, fostering a deep understanding of our responsibilities as caretakers of the Earth. Our aim is to cultivate respect, awareness, and proactive actions that support environmental health.
Global Citizenship:
We support awareness of the interconnectedness of our worldwide community, emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding and mutual respect. Recognizing our interdependence, we nurture a sense of responsibility for one another and the shared well-being of our planet and its diverse cultures.
Through these efforts, we strive to plant the seeds of sustainability and global awareness in our youngest learners, guiding them to become compassionate stewards of our shared future.
